Q&A with Pene Pati & filmmaker Rebecca Tansley, moderated by New Zealand Film Commission Chief Executive, Annie Murray Sun, Oct 11! Co-presented by San Francisco Opera Tenor: My Name is Pati, a new documentary that tells the remarkable story of Samoan tenor brothers and former SF Opera Adler Fellows, Pene Pati & Amitai Pati, from humble origins in the South Pacific to the world’s greatest opera stages. Weaving intimate family archive footage with behind-the-scenes observations and soaring performances, the film blends humor and heart to reveal how the power of family and cultural pride, determination, and resilience can yield rewards when chasing an unlikely dream. Tenor Pene Pati performs as the Chevalier des Grieux in this season’s production of Manon at the San Francisco Opera (Oct. 15 – Nov. 1), and will be here IN PERSON with Tenor filmmaker Rebecca Tansley on opening night. Note films start right at the listed showtime. Free or discounted for members. All ticket sales are final.
