About this event
One of 47 upcoming events at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio, and 1,334 across Dallas–Fort Worth.
8/23 in the showroom Olbrzym i Kurdupel, the experimental jazz duo of saxophonist Tomek Gadecki and bassist Marcin Bożek from Gdansk, Poland, arrives on US tour alongside Houston-based power saxophonist Danny Kamins, a fortunate coincidence of dates with a very special event: the tenth anniversary of Monte Espina, the North Texas-based electroacoustic improvisation duo of Venezuelan-born Miguel Espinel and Ernesto Montiel, who will be joined by A.F. Jones, multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, and Marginal Frequency head, travelling to town for this celebration. Two groups round out this evening, both comprised of artists relevant to the duo’s history: Sarah Jay performs with Dallasites Chris Curiel (trumpet) and Akkard The Orphic Priest (synth) in a first-time trio; Rick Eye, Louise Fristensky, Kristina Smith, and Lily Taylor, each from distinct disciplines and musical approaches, get together as a quartet.
