Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) TUESDAY, APRIL 28 | 6PM $5 GENERAL ADMISSION | STUDENTS FREE WITH ID Topic: Earth Uncovered: Geology, Volcanoes, and Ancient Life Beneath Our Feet Inspired by Jules Verne’s novel, this adventure film provides a fun starting point for separating geological fact from fiction. We hope to pair the screening with a discussion highlighting Kansas’s geological history, fossils, underground formations, and ancient life—potentially including hands-on displays or visual materials to enhance audience engagement. Dr. Reese Barrick is the Museum Director at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History. He earned his doctorate at the University of Southern California, where his research focused on Miocene oceans and the thermal physiology of Tyrannosaurus rex. A former paleontology professor at North Carolina State University, Dr. Barrick now shares the history of life on Earth through museum leadership, research, and student engagement at Fort Hays State University.
