About this event

Live Music

JAZZ begins in New Orleans, nineteenth century America’s most cosmopolitan city, where the sound of marching bands, Italian opera, Caribbean rhythms, and minstrel shows fills the streets with a richly diverse musical culture. Here, in the 1890s, African-American musicians create a new music out of these ingredients by mixing in ragtime syncopations and the soulful feeling of the blues. Director: Ken Burns, 2015, NR, 81 mins. Immediately following the film, join us for the lively panel discussion with our panelists who will provide insight as well as resources available to the San Antonio community.   ADMISSION IS FREE, BUT PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! The doors to The Little Carver open at 5:30pm, and the film begins at 6pm.
