TEDx Student Gallery Submission “Crossing Paths Gallery” Student Exhibition curated by The East County Art Association Theme: “Bridges: Linking Ideas, Building Unity” Event Date: May 30, 2026 IDEAS AROUND THE THEME FOR INSPIRATION: Bridges: Linking Ideas, Building Unity A symbol to connect entities Created by working together: teamwork can symbolically be represented by a bridge A bridge can be the connection itself between different cultures, different thoughts, differences Creates Unity, Understanding, Sharing of Characteristics Bridges can be a symbol of balance A bridge made out of positive words, like “kindness, respect, courage, understanding” connecting two groups of people. Cultural Bridge: Sharing cultural traditions and daily rituals with each other to create a better understanding and respect for each other Abstract Bridges made of geometric shapes Conceptual bridges connecting technology and humanity Split composition artwork showing contrast and connection Students ages 5–18 (K–12) are invited to submit original artwork inspired by the theme “Bridges: Linking Ideas, Building Unity.” Consider how bridges connect people, cultures, communities, and ideas. ELIGIBILITY Open to students ages 5–18(K-12) ARTWORK SPECIFICATIONS • Size must be exactly 8 x 10 inches. • Artwork must be created on paper only. • Artwork must be ready to display. • Do not frame the artwork. ACCEPTED MEDIA Graphite pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, crayons (including oil pastel), soft pastel, gouache, tempera, ink, pen, acrylic. If using oil paint or acrylic, students must use oil painting paper or acrylic paper designed for those materials. CREATIVE WEDNESDAYS During Creative Wednesdays, students are encouraged to join members and the public with their projects to jump start their creative ideas, receive feedback, and share inspiration or to receive assistance with matboard and final presentation before submission is due. Teachers are welcome to submit work for their entire class. Upon artwork submission, artwork release forms will be provided for parents to release artwork for curation to the East County Art Association and to the school. Artwork release forms are available at both locations for submission.
