About this event
One of 5 upcoming events at Santa Fe Public Library, and 532 across Santa Fe.
Traditional Mexika ~ Azteca Blessing by Danza Tonantzin de Analco Aztec dances are a form of prayer and communication that channel energy to the Aztec gods, connecting the earthly plane with the cosmos. The dances have different meanings, but all express respect for nature and the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. Every step and turn has deep spiritual meaning, often marking the four cardinal directions and the earth and sky. All ages are welcome! This event will take place outdoors near the Library building's front entrance. Limited seating will be available, but all are welcome to bring their own chairs. Please dress for cool weather. Hot beverages will be provided! This program has been made possible by the support of the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library. Visit the Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library website to learn more. For accommodations such as translations, ASL interpreters, or disability needs, please email [email protected] or call 505-955-6781. In Honor of Día de Muertos Santa Fe Public Library respectfully invites the community to participate in the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos. In celebration of life and remembrance, we invite the public to place pictures of departed loved ones, written letters to those we have lost, and other keepsakes on our community ofrendas (altars) in their honor. Join us in this practice of ancestral veneration and healing throughout the month of October at all Santa Fe Public Library locations. To submit a story or photo, email [email protected] or bring photos, stories, and other items to one of the library information desks to add to the ofrendas. Contributions for the community ofrendas are accepted beginning October 1 until the end of October 2026. Community ofrendas will be housed at all three Santa Fe Public Library branches during the month of October and the first week of November. We invite all to honor their loved ones at the altars. Ofrendas will have a traditional blessing by Danza Tonantzin de Analco at the end of October, before the Día de Muertos holiday that takes place November 1 – 2, 2026.
