Join us for an Under The Rock showcase featuring AMANDA PASCALI & GINA CHAVEZ AMANDA PASCALI & GINA CHAVEZ. On October 3rd Under will be hosting two of Texas’ most compelling musical storytellers for a dynamic and unique show. Both Amanda and Gina bring a powerful blend of cultural heritage, contemporary artistry, and human connection into their songs and life perspectives. A perfect Under pairing, these artists create music that transcends borders, languages, and genres. Through song and conversation, we’ll explore themes of identity, resilience, family, migration, and the stories that connect our past, present, and future. Amanda Pascali is an internationally acclaimed bilingual singer-songwriter whose work bridges Sicilian folk traditions and contemporary songwriting. Named the Houston Chronicle’s “Musician of the Year” in 2021 and selected as an Artist in Resonance at the Library of Congress, she is also a doctoral student at UT and a recipient of the prestigious Harrington Fellow. Gina Chavez is one of Texas’ most celebrated musical ambassadors, blending Latin pop, folk, indie, cumbia, and world music into her own unique sound. Honored with her own Gina Chavez Day in Austin, named Austin Musician of the Year, and selected as American Songwriter’s inaugural Songwriter-in-Residence, she crafts songs that are both deeply personal and universally resonant. In addition to both artists singing in multiple languages, the performance will be ASL concert interpreted, making the experience more accessible and welcoming to all. Together, these remarkable women showcase the richness of multilingual, multicultural storytelling through music that inspires reflection, understanding, and connection. UNDER THE ROCK Is an innovative series showcasing performances from top-level local artists. Facilitated by Dr. Aaron Rochlen, a Professor, Psychologist, & Music Guy, each concert features lyrical discussions and ideas for how audience member can learn, reflect, and relate from the listening experience.
