Our historic house museum comes alive with hands-on demonstrations, traditional crafts, lively storytelling, and the everyday skills of New England’s past. Visitors can watch wool transform through the dyeing process, try their hand at making corn husk dolls, and gather around the open hearth to see historic cooking techniques in action. The rhythmic whir of the spinning wheel brings another piece of the past to life, while genealogy hours invite guests to learn more about their own individual family history. Families can gather for storytime with a fall-themed tale, experience stories of the Nye family on guided tours in the 1678 historic farmhouse led by costumed interpreters. Every corner of the historic house offers an opportunity to discover something new. From hearth cooking and handcrafts to family history and storytelling, the Nye Museum’s Autumn Gathering is a lively celebration of New England’s fall traditions, craftsmanship, and living history—with something for curious visitors of every age. $10 suggested donation per family.
