Wampanoag Leaders: 1600s to Today: 11am-12pm – Join Tim Turner (Cherokee Nation), Director of Indigenous Education & Training, as he takes a fascinating look at Indigenous leaders from the 1600s to the present day. This program will explore well-known figures from history including Ousamequin (Massasoit), Tisquantum (Squanto), and Metacomet (King Philip), as well as the current Chairman and Chairwoman of the Herring Pond (Plymouth), Mashpee, and Aquinnah (Martha’s Vineyard) Tribes. Program participants will gain an understanding of each leader’s contributions to the region and to their communities. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Program will be held in the Maxwell Theater. Access to this program is included with admission to Plimoth Patuxet Museums. 13 Moons and 12,000 Years: Wampanoag History Past and Present: 1pm-2pm – Join Tim Turner (Cherokee Nation), Director of Indigenous Education & Training, for a unique conversation that explores 12,000 years of Wampanoag history. Discover how communities past and present have adapted and sustained their way of life amid changing natural, social, and political landscapes. Program will be held in the Maxwell Theater. Access to this program is included with admission to Plimoth Patuxet Museums.
