Opening Reception at Art Complex Museum (Duxbury)

Opening Reception Sunday, May 17 from 1-4pm for three new Exhibitions: As part of Handwork 2026, a national celebration of craft organized by Craft in America, the Art Complex Museum presents:  American Beauty: Shaker Furniture and ContemporaryCraft from the Collection – This exhibition pairs Shaker furniture with contemporary craft, exploring the enduring influence of Shaker design and ideals. Featuring works in wood, clay, fiber, metal, and mixed materials, it celebrates craftsmanship that balances utility and beauty, tradition and innovation, and honors the enduring artistry of the handmade. Exhibition May 17 – September 6, 2026 Scenes of the Sea:  American Paintings from the Collection – For centuries, the American coastline has provided artistic inspiration as well as a retreat for painters. Whether working en plein aire, instructing students, or spending time with their families, many American artists used their time by the ocean to recapture their creative muse. Exhibition May 10 – September 6, 2026 Jan Lhormer: Earth and Sky – Known for her evocative landscapes, Jan Lhormer channels her deep connection to the natural world into expansive skyscapes and richly layered garden scenes. Her paintings, which blend memory, emotion, and careful observation, use color and gesture to capture both the tangible and the ethereal; the changing light of the sky, the fragility of flowers, and the shifting rhythms of the environment.
