About this event
One of 409 upcoming events at See Plymouth.
“Mayflower’s Legacy: Stories by the Sea and on the Land,” is presented by Richard Pickering, Deputy Executive Director and Senior Historian at Plimoth Patuxet Museums. The timing of the final lecture is especially meaningful as it coincides with the anniversary of the signing of the Mayflower Compact in November 1620, connecting the revolutionary debates of the 18th century with an earlier Plymouth story concerning church covenants, self-government and the formation of a civil body politic. In this lecture, Pickering will discuss what happened in the immediate wake of Mayflower’s arrival and the signing of the Mayflower Compact, and how those events shaped the future of cultural interactions between the Pilgrims and Wampanoag.
