Community Read and Discussion: Immigration: An American History by Carl Bon Tempo

Explore the history of American immigration from the colonial period to the present and how it has shaped the United States with author Carl Bon Tempo. Bon Tempo will discuss the research that went into his book Immigration: An American History, tying into the important legacy of diverse immigrant groups in securing the success of the Revolution. Bon Tempo is an Associate Professor and Interim Graduate Director of the History Department at SUNY Albany. He holds a PhD from the University of Virginia and brings more than 20 years of experience as a scholar of immigration to Auburn. His current book, under contract with the University of Pennsylvania Press, considers America’s history as a source for human rights. This program is a partnership between Seymour Library and Seward House Museum and is part of a series of programs and exhibits funded by The City of Auburn’s Historic and Cultural Sites Commission commemorating America’s 250th birthday.
