About this event
One of 161 upcoming events at Seymour Library.
A night of read-along fun with Book Buddies of Cayuga County! Join volunteers from the Book Buddies program at Seymour Library for an evening of stories, a character parade, diy bookmarks, and snacks! Participants are invited to dress up like their favorite storybook character and enter a parade where fellow participants will try to guess who they are! Guess right and win a prize! After the parade, volunteers from the Book Buddies program will break out into different read-along stations. Make sure to get your free giveaway book from the Friends of Seymour Library and design a bookmark for your new book! This event will be held on the library’s front lawn. In case of rain or inclement weather, the program will be moved inside the library. Book Buddies is a United Way of Cayuga County initiative to help students build confidence, strengthen literacy skills, and develop a lifelong love of reading through positive mentorship. The program’s goal is to promote literacy and mentorship through one-on-one or small group reading sessions in schools, with objectives focused on increasing reading engagement and fluency, fostering positive adult–student relationships, encouraging lifelong reading habits, and strengthening connections between schools, families, and the community.
