Living History on the Lawn will be a 2 Day event to commemorate our 250th celebration. Held on Friday October 9 and Saturday October 10, 2026. Shore History will be offering a weekend of activities, reenactors, indigenous tribes, colonial cooking and demonstrations of traditional crafts. Living History on the Lawn October 10, 2026 Ker Place’s grounds will be transformed into an outdoor classroom. Program elements include: Plantation cooking demonstrations by Janice Canady, illustrating daily life in colonial Virginia. Historical interpretation of George Mason and the Virginia Declaration of Rights by a Williamsburg reenactor. Presentations on Native American culture and history by historian Daniel Firebird Abbot of Jamestown. . Naval camp of the Virginia Navy Galley Norfolk Revenge demonstrating military life during the American Revolution including cannon firing demonstrations, tools, food, uniforms, and live poultry. Engagement with present-day members of the Accohannock Indian Tribe, exploring local Indigenous history and cultural continuity. Demonstrations of traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, quilting, wool spinning and herbal remedies.
