Their shared vocabulary of light, color, and form evokes an homage to the ideals of mid-century modernism and the cultural optimism it continues to inspire. Eric Nash Pacific Coast Highway Only, 2025 Oil on Canvas, 48"x 60" Eric Nash’s Pacific Coast Hwy (Only), rendered in luminous realism, isolates the highway sign, an everyday icon of California life, and elevates it to a symbol of movement, escape, and possibility. "The signs," he says, "are both stories and places." Andy Burgess Palm Springs - Under the Mountain, 2024 Hybrid screenprint, 15/22, Limited Edition Framed 32 ½” x 37 ½” Andy Burgess captures the serene clarity and spatial harmony of Palm Springs architecture. Burgess translates the precision of modernist design into a study of balance and light, repose and reflection. “I want to explore how paintings can capture how aspirational and romantic these places can be.” Laurie Raskin Let's Go Saturday, 2019 Mixed media on paper 22 ½” x 30" Artist Laurie Raskin's palette of neon hues and overlapping forms evokes the playful futurism that once defined Southern California’s midcentury urban optimism. "I am inspired by the visual world around me and by the beauty of the human spirit. ” In their distinct voices, Nash, Burgess, and Raskin celebrate the visual language of California modernism as well as the lifestyle and idealism that continue to define the desert’s allure. These works form a dialogue, between motion, memory, and stillness: via the open highway that leads there, the cherished architecture that endures, and the optimistic spirit of the culture that thrives there.
