Untold Stories: Dutch John — Cattle Thief, Outlaw, Dead Man The open range has a darker side. For November’s installment of Untold Stories, The Soiled Dove Speakeasy and the Museum of Idaho are digging into the story of John Andrews, better known as “Dutch” John—a late-1800s cattle thief whose attempt to turn on his own posse would ultimately cost him his life. Against the seemingly serene backdrop of Western ranching and cowboy life, Dutch John’s story is one of cattle robbery, betrayal, and murder.
