Lanterns of the Solstice

As we head towards the darkest day of the year, we invite families to join us to create light and warmth together. We will gather at the library to craft lanterns, explore the science behind the solstice, learn how light is celebrated around the world, enjoy a story, and then create a solstice spiral that everyone will have a chance to walk through. Then we'll head outside with our lanterns glowing and voices singing, marking the turning of the season and welcoming back the light. Bring warm layers for our time outside, and don't forget your sense of wonder! Generously presented by the Springfield Town Library and The Grammar School (Putney, VT). Ages: 6-12
