Explorations in Abstraction

Amanda Barrow will discuss the development of her work in abstract art, as well as underlying sources of inspiration. Ms. Barrow has been steadily working as an artist and a teacher since the mid ‘90s, having created a wide variety of work incorporating paper, canvas, cheesecloth, and clay. Her process begins with a concept of what she wants to create; that concept usually employs the continued advancement of an idea she is exploring in her current series. Amanda then plays with each piece she makes, attempting to follow her intuition as closely as possible, listening to the whispers in her head, and employing the ideas of improvisation and spontaneity in her artmaking journey.
