Join historian Andrew Kercher as he discusses the calendar's eternal struggle and why we leap! He will cover questions such as why do we have a leap day every 4 years? Why are there 60 seconds in a minute and not 100...or seven days in a week? Why is February so short? Will we ever be done springing forward and falling back? Get the low down about something we deal with every day: time! Have you always wanted to write, but don't know where to start? Maybe you once considered yourself a writer, but life's busyness has stifled your creativity....No matter your experience with the writing craft, a group of other likeminded wordsmiths may be just the community needed to provide you with motivation, accountability, and feedback. We'll do some writing using prompts, share our creations (if comfortable), and encourage each other to keep putting pen to paper. Introduce your little one to the sounds and rhythms of language through short poems, stories, and music. Then stay for play! For children ages 0-3 and their caregivers. The Sanderson Sisters are back, and they've cast a spell that threatens to turn the library into a permanent realm of darkness. With only 30 minutes before the spell becomes irreversible, it's up to you and your fellow book lovers to unravel clues, solve magical puzzles, and break the enchantment! To reserve a 30 min time slot please call the Capac Library. The room is available 12-4:30PM 10/19 to 10/22. Whether you're an experienced player or new to the game, join this fun group of Mahjong players. Come join us in the teen zone of the library to paint your own pumpkin! Whether you like your pumpkins spooky or silly all ideas are welcome! We have a variety of paint colors so you can decorate your very own pumpkin however you would like! Unwind after school with an afternoon of Nintendo Switch gaming! Jump into favorites like Mario Kart, Minecraft, and Super Smash Bros.; challenge friends; and see who comes out on top. Calling teen adventurers! Do you like tabletop role-playing games? Are you curious about how Dungeons & Dragons is played? Join other teens to play and learn as you go. No experience necessary. Everything needed, such as dice and character sheets, will be provided. The collective began in Pine Grove Park in Port Huron with two, then three, and then four guys playing on Saturdays in the park. Soon they moved on to performing at a growing number of venues throughout the Blue Water Area. They play 50's to 90's Classic Rock, Country, Folk, Blues, and Gospel. All accompaniment is live with acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, bass, harmonica, percussion, and a variety of other instruments. This program will take place at the Don Dodge Auditorium located at 200 Grand River Ave, Port Huron, MI. This venue is behind and across the street from the Port Huron/Main Branch of the St. Clair County Library System. KIDS - ever want to cut up a book? Now is your chance! Join us in Memphis to use old book pages to make a spooky ghost picture. Activity is geared for elementary aged kids. Please register as space is limited. Come in and browse the great selection of gently used books, DVD's, CD's, puzzles & more at our semi-annual book sale! Proceeds support library projects and programs. Donations accepted beginning September 15th. Book sale is held during library hours - Wednesday & Thursday 9am-8pm, and Friday 9am-5pm. Join us for a fun and educational blend of stories, crafts, movement activities, and songs. Hope to see you there! Come play or learn the tiled game of Mahjong. This is different from the on-line game. We will do our best to help you learn how to play.
