Mighty String Demons

The Mighty String Demons, under the direction of Sanchie Bobrow, will present a fun and inspiring young people’s concert titled “Welcome Solstice!” to celebrate the return of light after six months of lengthening nights and shortening days. Guest performers will be concert bassist, Kazuo Nakamura and guitarist, Nicole Azzarelli. The String Demons will perform classical, folk and Native American music that depicts Winter or Winter scenes. Since they will perform a Native American melody, they will also briefly talk about the Lenape tradition called the “Big House” ceremony. Members of the group will recite selected poems about Solstice and Winter between musical selections. We invite audience members to bring a poem about winter that they might read aloud during the concert. This concert is made possible (in part) by an Encore Grant from Staten Island Arts, with public funding from the New York State Council on the Arts. Included with Admission
