Nick Gaitan is a Houston-born bassist, singer-songwriter, and cultural advocate whose music and programs uplift Chicano and Tejano heritage. His solo albums—Bridges and Bayous and Nick Gaitan & The Umbrella Man—reflect his Gulf Coast roots, blending Tex-Mex, Swamp pop, and Chicano Soul. His song “I’ve Found My Weakness in You” was recorded by Billy Joe Shaver, and he’s toured globally with acts like Nikki Hill. A proud native of Houston’s East End, Nick’s music and community-driven initiatives have become a vital voice in preserving and celebrating Chicano culture. This workshop is focused on the intersection of figurative drawing and developing concepts. Participants are asked to bring a sense of curiosity to expand your technical practice with personal, social and political concepts. The workshop will also include artist critiques, studio/museum visits, and shared meals provided by local purveyors. All while staying in the quiet luxury of the Porches Inn, situated in the heart of artistic North Adams, in the creative Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
