each august, alabama audubon hosts the black belt birding festival, bringing visitors from across the united states to alabama’s black belt for a weekend of community and birding. we have been proud to partner with alabama audubon on arts programming for the festival each year, and we’re excited to be back again on august 1! we’ll have all kinds of magic-making going on at the cottage, including: the opening of “plumage,” our second annual juried group show. drop-in art-making with doug baulos where participants can make bird book ornaments based on the scissor-tailed flycatcher. an artist market live music make your plans to join us! all programs at sumac cottage are free, but be sure to register ahead of time for any other birding festival events you might be interested in.
