Lunch and Learn with author Dr. Rachel Storm- The 1876 Table Date: Friday, September 4, 2026 Time: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, Lunch and Learn & 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Book signing (at Dillon Farmer’s Market) Location: Old Dillon Schoolhouse, 403 E LaBonte Street, Dillon, CO 80435 Cost: Registration required, Limited space, Free It is Colorado’s 150th year as a state, so let’s look back at how and what people ate in 1876. We’ll look at the foods, preparation methods, servingware, and customs around campfires, hornos, manos & metates, and cast iron as we explore the seasonality of foods and transitory nature of the hearth as people moved into, out of, and around what became the state of Colorado in 1876. Light snacks provided. Dr. Rachael Storm is Head of Curatorial Services & Curator of Business and Industry at History Colorado. She grew up in Iowa, spending summers on her grandparents’ farm and worked at a USDA seed genebank prior to earning her PhD in the history of agricultural capitalism at the University of Delaware. Her recent book, Setting Colorado’s Table: 150 Years of Agricultural Legacy, celebrates the history of farming and ranching in the Centennial State and was just released as part of the 250th/150th commemoration of US nationhood and Colorado statehood.
