Join us for an embroidery workshop with Eman Hayyat. Eman grew up in Middlebury, VT to a Palestinian/ Jordanian family. She spent her summers in Jordan which strengthened her ties to the culture of the region. She enjoys creating things that can be enjoyed by many, be it a meal that can be shared with friends and family or a newly completed Tatreez project that can be displayed as a symbol of her heritage. This workshop anticipates a permanent immigration history exhibit in 2027. Participants will learn a traditional Palestinian embroidery pattern and have the opportunity to think about, share, and discuss how and why immigrants to Vermont bring traditional art-making and decorative practices with them.
