The 443 Music Collective is excited to present a harmonica workshop with four-time Blues Music Award winner and educator JASON RICCI. The seminar will be open to all ability levels, recording, photographing, and note-taking are strongly encouraged and recommended. Participants are encouraged to bring recording devices, note pads and at least one harmonica in the key of C. The seminar will be two 90 minute, interactive classes that focus on the following topics: I : Playing Alone A.) Tone, achieving single notes, embochure, rhythm, bending and overblows ( I will only briefly breeze over these subjects. It is recommend students YouTube search these subjects prior to the seminar but I WILL discuss them and gladly answer questions.) B.) Root notes, the 12 bar blues structure, timing and phrasing. Listening, incorporating licks/riffs into improvisation and the importance of playing with putva band and practice routines. II: Basic Harmony A.) Scales. B.) Major Triads and 6th and 7th Chord arpeggios. C.) Approach Tones, enclosures, chromaticism and very basic jazz improvisational approaches to blues improvisation. Q&A is encouraged THROUGHOUT the seminar, and students are ENCOURAGED to interrupt with raised hands and questions at ANY time in the presentation. Thank you so much!
