About this event
One of 539 upcoming events at Tampa Museum of Art, and 2,017 across Tampa Bay.
Saturdays, Sep 12 – 26 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (3 classes) Ages 18+ | Beginner Level Encaustic paint, an ancient art medium made from melted wax and pigment, is incredibly versatile. There are so many ways it can be manipulated – painting, layering, embedding, incising, mark-making, and sculpting, just to name a few. Whether this is your first foray into the medium or you’re an experienced encaustic artist, together we will push the boundaries of this adaptable medium and take your work to the next level! This three-week course for beginning and advanced students will focus on the role of encaustic sketchbooks. Each artist will learn to make their own encaustic-friendly sketchbooks and use them as creative workspaces to draft, experiment, and explore ideas to further develop into final works. Includes a plein air visit to TMA’s David Hockney exhibition, opening soon. Come join us for an innovative adventure! *All supplies included. Register Now
