From Terra Blues
Miss Maybell’s bluesy vocals pull you into a time warp of a listening experience, invoking with innate feeling those of Ethel Waters and “Empress of the Blues” Bessie Smith. Together with her partner Charlie Judkins - masterful on stride piano - they conjure up, re-animate, and invigorate with tunes both known and undiscovered from the ragtime era. Banjos and washboard not excluded! https://youtu.be/7oAHxUZ-lIk?si=QH6ZYQTlNLff8Kl8
