Voices on the Hudson: Joshua Garcia and Scott Cook
About this event
Voices on the Hudson is a satellite of Voices in the Heights, a curated monthly music series featuring extraordinary songwriters. Come listen in a cozy cafe setting in the heart of Nyack! Joshua Garcia is a songwriter whose powerful lyrics and deeply moving vocals evoke comparisons to Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan, his boyhood idols. He went from a virtual unknown to one of the most sought after singers in the NYC folk world, opening for Don McLean twice, before taking a hiatus from performing in recent years. We are thrilled to bring him to our Nyack audience. Born in West Virginia and raised on the Canadian prairies, in 2007 Scott Cook quit a job teaching kindergarten in Taiwan to move into a minivan. He’s been traveling the world full-time ever since, and is currently touring his eighth album Troubadourly Yours. Fresh from the open road, these are sturdy, straight-talking songs that see the good in you. In the Pitkin Room. Refreshments available.
