The Bend Sessions: West Bend’s Free Community Lecture Series August – November 2026 AMANDA LATHAM – University of Wisconsin – Badger Talks Weather Warnings: Severe Weather Trends & Patterns in Wisconsin Amanda Latham is a climate outreach specialist with the Wisconsin State Climatology Office at the University of Wisconsin. A former broadcast meteorologist with a background in atmospheric science, she now studies and communicates trends in Wisconsin’s weather, including the state’s shifting severe weather season. Latham will break down what the data shows about tornadoes, hail and damaging winds in Wisconsin — and what residents should watch for as storm patterns continue to change. Badger Talks reflects our tradition of the Wisconsin Idea — to extend the resources of the university to citizens of the state. Over 300 Badger Talks are hosted around the state each year, featuring faculty and staff with expertise in a variety of disciplines. Talk topics range from cutting edge discoveries to happiness in the workplace and everything in between. The Bend Sessions Community Lecture Series runs from August 10th through November 17th and is a FREE event open to the public, however registration is requested.
