Known for his razor-sharp wit and relentless self-deprecating humor, Uecker transformed a modest career as a Major League backup catcher into an unlikely second act as a national comedian, actor, and legendary broadcaster. To generations of fans, he was simply “Mr. Baseball.” Filmed over the final three years of his life with remarkable access, this intimate documentary captures Uecker as he reflects on the improbable journey that carried him from the dugouts of Major League Baseball to late-night television, Hollywood, and the broadcast booth of the Milwaukee Brewers – where his voice became synonymous with summer for fans across the Midwest. The August 17th screening will be followed by a roundtable discussion with the film’s producer and filmmakers, along with a former Milwaukee Brewer with deep local ties. The evening is presented as part of THE BEND SESSIONS, West Bend’s community lecture series.
