ACLU x Big Freedia

The ACLU of Louisiana has produced a critical mini documentary highlighting the current attack on voting rights and Black voting power. The documentary offers a glimpse of impacts on the ground in Louisiana in the aftermath of Louisiana v. Callais, a case the Supreme Court decided earlier this year which gutted the Voting Rights Act.The premiere will feature a screening of the ACLU of Louisiana’s mini documentary, followed by a moderated panel discussion featuring Big Freedia and Alanah Odoms, executive director of the ACLU of Louisiana, and other invited civic leaders or community stakeholders. The discussion will center around the attack on Black voting power and how it overlaps with challenges the bounce music community has faced. The evening will close with a short live performance by Big Freedia, giving the event a signature New Orleans send-off.
