The Night Painters, Quokka

//---no times on events--- The Night Painters are an indie rock trio who have firmly planted themselves in the Madison music scene since they began playing in the area in 2023. Their latest album, Good Thinking, showcases the band’s evolution from its beginnings as a Seattle project in 2018. Following the award-winning album Fence of Perfect Lines, Good Thinking is the first full-length release featuring the group’s current lineup of vocalist/guitarist Al Knox, drummer Luke Stanton, and Harry Hochwarter on bass and synth. The album displays the band’s reverence for foundational indie legends like REM, Death Cab For Cutie, and Radiohead, packed with memorable hooks and astute lyrics. With this collection, The Night Painters examine the seemingly futile effort in developing a holistic identity in an ideologically complex time, or, “thinking good”. Quokka is an indie rock band from Madison, WI. In 2025, they released ‘Lifer’, the only indie rock album written entirely around birds. Influenced heavily by The Beths and Fountains of Wayne, Quokka lives off of big choruses, bright, catchy riffs and a love of Wisconsin.
