There isn’t a blueprint for a career in the arts. Whether behind the lens, on stage, or leading marketing strategies from behind the scenes, building a life in the creative industry requires adaptability, passion, and purpose. Join us at The Diversionary Theatre on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, for an inspiring panel discussion exploring the diverse, non-linear journeys of exceptional artists and creative professionals. Our panelists will share candid insights on turning artistic passion into a sustainable career, navigating industry shifts, telling meaningful community stories, and using art as a vehicle for real-world impact. Featured Panelists Rich Soublet – Portrait & Entertainment Production Photographer A master of visual storytelling, Rich captures the nuance of human expression and theatrical energy for renowned institutions like The Old Globe and La Jolla Playhouse. His photography has been featured nationally in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Los Angeles Times. Natalie Dominguez Espina – Marketing Manager at Diversionary Theatre Blending a background in competitive dance, cultural psychology, graphic design, and music journalism, Natalie brings a vibrant, community-focused lens to arts administration. Today, she leads marketing efforts for Diversionary Theatre, amplifying LGBTQIA+ stories and fostering inclusive spaces across San Diego. TaiReikca L.A. (they/them) – Actor, Stage Manager, & Theatre Artist An accomplished multidisciplinary creator holding an MFA from CalArts, TaiReikca has brought stories to life on stages across the country, including the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, La Jolla Playhouse, and Virginia Stage Company, driven by a conviction in the power of theatre to transform society. Featured Moderator Wilfred Paloma – Director of Arts Education and Community Engagement Paloma is a California-based theatre artist and Director of Education & Community Engagement at Diversionary Theatre. He is an Actor’s Equity member with an M.F.A. in Musical Theatre, an M.A. in Theatre Arts, and a B.A. in Theatre Performance (Acting and Musical Theatre). Why Attend? Real Talk on Creative Career Paths: Learn how non-linear experiences—from dance and design to stage management and photography—fuel long-term success. Behind-the-Scenes Insights: Gain perspective on working with major regional theaters, national media outlets, and community-centered performing arts spaces. Community & Connection: Connect with fellow creatives, students, and arts supporters passionate about the local cultural landscape.
