Farm Businesses in the Nineteenth Century: A Walking Tour of the Dudley Farm Saturday, April 11, 1 pm During the nineteenth century, the Dudley Farm, like many small New England farms, relied on income from a variety of farm businesses. Join Board President Maria Trumpler for this hour-long walking tour, in which we’ll look at sites of grain milling, tanning, sugaring, charcoal making, horse breeding, blacksmithing, lumber production and rag rug making and consider how these different enterprises contributed to the bottom line as well as the daily work life on this farm. We’ll also consider the environmental impact of this self-sufficiency. Saturday, April 11, 1 pm, meet at the map kiosk. Rain date Sunday, April 12, 1 pm. Free and open to all, but please register here.
Visit our preserved 19th-century farm, Farmhouse and Quinnipiac Dawnland Museums by private tour (only) in November.
