Ron Nelson: Savannah River Holiday Leonard Bernstein: The Age of Anxiety Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 Optimism. Anxiety. Resilience. You know the feeling when everything shifts, and somehow you keep going. Enter Leonard Slatkin. One of America’s most respected conductors, Slatkin brings decades of insight to a program that captures the emotional pulse of the 20th century. It opens with the bright, open-air energy of Ron Nelson’s Savannah River Holiday, before turning inward with Leonard Bernstein’s The Age of Anxiety. Pianist Orli Shaham takes the spotlight in this work. Then comes Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. Tense, powerful and ultimately defiant, it builds from quiet unease to a finale that feels hard-won. Classical Kids & Teens: Kids and teens ages 5-18 get in free to all Masterworks concerts with Classical Kids tickets, thanks in part to the generous support of The Sibbri Foundation. At least one paying adult purchase is required per order, and other restrictions apply. These tickets are available in advance only through The Florida Orchestra Ticket Center.
