Penelope Weinberger & Jaybird!

When the stool pigeon sings like a canary, Jaybird! gets a bum raptor for robin and fowl play, so on a lark, they use a crowbar to duck out of prison. After finding the bighouse band guilty of domestic violins, Penelope blows the whistle on deviant dancers convicted of carrying a concealed Capezio, breaking and entering the top of the set, petticoat larceny, grand chain theft, and failure to launder their money and dance clothes. Round up your dance partner in crime for some jailhouse rock. Hailing from the DC area, Penelope Weinberger has been calling and organizing dances for over 20 years and is welcomed around the country for her clear and convivial calling. Jaybird!… sassy rhythms, down-to-earth grooves, flights of fancy… contra dance heaven. Jaybird! is Jody Kruskel on Anglo concertina, Sam Zygmuntowitz on fiddle, and Ben Bath on piano. Together they mix complex rhythms and joyful energy fueling contra dance mayhem
