About this event
One of 11 upcoming events at the Gene Siskel Film Center, and 7,029 across Chicago.
"Apichatpong’s particular genius is his ability to conjure the sublime from the most basic of elements – and I mean that in both senses of the word. He summons elemental sensations from commonplace sounds and practical effects: a flickering spotlight, humming insects, theatrical props, and a nighttime breeze. It’s a kind of primal magic." —Darren Hughes, Senses of Cinema Monday, October 26, 6:00 p.m. | A prolific maker of short films in addition to his acclaimed features, Apichatpong Weerasthakul (MFA 1998, HON 2011) graces our screens once again with a personal and poetic program of shorts including some rarely screened works. Program includes BLUE (2018), NIGHT COLONIES (2021), MOBILE MEN (2008), NOKIA SHORT (2003), NIMIT (2007), and ON BLUE (2022). OFF CENTER is a basement. OFF CENTER is a backyard. OFF CENTER is a place to come hang and experience weird films together in the spirit of DIY filmmaking and the microcinema. Programmed by Michael Wawzenek. The Film Center is ADA accessible. This presentation will be projected without open captions. The theater is hearing-loop equipped. For accessibility requests, please email [email protected]
