Join The Georgia Trust and The Atlanta Opera at Rhodes Hall for a special evening exploring the intersection of historic preservation, architecture and the performing arts through the remarkable transformation of Atlanta’s historic Bobby Jones Clubhouse. Tomer Zvulun (pictured), General and Artistic Director of The Atlanta Opera, and architect Alan Post of Post Loyal Architecture will share the story of the preservation and thoughtful adaptation of the Bobby Jones Clubhouse and the development of The Atlanta Opera’s new campus surrounding this important Atlanta landmark. Once recognized by The Georgia Trust as a Place in Peril, the clubhouse is now entering a new chapter—one that demonstrates how a historic building can be preserved, reimagined and given new life while remaining an important part of the community. The evening will also look ahead to The Atlanta Opera’s upcoming production of Silent Night, the Pulitzer Prize-winning opera inspired by the extraordinary Christmas Truce of 1914, when soldiers emerged from opposing trenches during World War I to share a brief moment of peace and common humanity. Its themes of history, memory and reconciliation provide a particularly meaningful connection to Rhodes Hall and the Rhodes family’s own history during the era of the Great War. Adding a musical dimension to the program, the evening is planned to include a live performance by an Atlanta Opera singer, giving guests a taste of the artistry and storytelling that will come to the stage in Silent Night. Presented by The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation in partnership with The Atlanta Opera October 15, 2026 6:30-7:30 p.m. – Light Refreshments 7:00 p.m. – Presentation and Performance Rhodes Hall 1516 Peachtree St. NW Atlanta, GA 30309 Free Parking is available at 1495 Spring Street.
