About this event
One of 11 upcoming events at The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African- American Arts + Culture, and 1,639 across Charlotte.
Filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina, For Your Safety brings together a collective of people in a short film exploring visibility, identity, and the narratives that shape how we see one another. Through original and archival imagery, the film moves between past and present, confronting what is happening around us while reminding us of what has come before. The screening will be followed by a community talkback, creating space for viewers to reflect, respond, and share their own perspectives on the work and the state of the world around them. Faith Roberts is a multidisciplinary artist and storyteller working across photography, film, and installation. Rooted in observation and cultural storytelling, her practice captures lived and constructed moments that reflect identity, visibility, community, and the ways people move through the world. Faith is drawn to personal experiences, cultural memory, and everyday realities that can speak beyond the individual. Her work considers how something deeply personal can become recognizable to others through shared experiences and connection. Through portraiture, documentary-style photography, videography, and installation, she invites viewers to look closer, question what they see, and find pieces of themselves within the stories of others. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, her practice remains grounded in storytelling, human connection, and reflection Get the latest from the Gantt & subscribe to our email community.
