About this event
One of 10 upcoming events at The HIVE Woodland.
Join us at the Center for Land Based Learning to explore the fascinating world of honey bees and the people who care for them. Featured speakers include owners of The HIVE, Josh and Shoshana Zeldner alongside Dr. Elina L. Niño, Professor of Apiculture in the Department of Entomology & Nematology at UC Davis. Whether you’re curious about the health of bee populations, interested in the differences between honey varieties, or considering keeping bees yourself, you’ll gain practical knowledge and insights from local experts. We will discuss the latest honey bee research and what current environmental conditions mean for bee health, explore how varietal honeys are produced and what makes each one unique, and share the importance of supporting domestic honey production through strong relationships between beekeepers and growers. The Center for Land Based Learning Speaker Series is a free and fun way to connect with beginning farmers and anyone interested in agriculture and the environment. Each month, we focus on a different topic, highlighting some of the difference-makers in our region. Enjoy hot wood-fired pizzas, cold drinks, and great conversation on the third Wednesday of each month through October. 4:30-5:30 p.m. – Pizza, Drinks, and Networking 5:30-7:00 p.m. – Presentation and Discussion 7:00-7:30 p.m. – More Mingling This is a free event, but a $20 donation to the Center for Land Based Learning is much appreciated.
