I have a specific project in mind Please provide a brief overview of the topics you would like to discuss during your meeting with CDFA. Our newly formed Friends of the Nichols Library Group (EIN 41-5189254) would like to begin a capital campaign to raise funds for our proposed library basement renovation. The James E. Nichols Memorial Library was built in 1910 and is on the Register of Historic Places. Center Harbor is a small town beautifully situated on Lake Winnipesaukee. Our year round population is just over 1,000 people. Rather than ask the townspeople for a bond, the Trustees are of the opinion that option would fail, and would like to raise the funds privately. We've already completed a feasibility study with an architect with costs. (2.1 M+) and want to launch this campaign properly. We also need help with the financial (giving) opportunities for donors. We'd like to see how CDFA could help us achieve this goal. Project Location Nichols Memorial Library 35 Plymouth St., Center Harbor, NH Executive Summary The Nichols Memorial Library would like to renovate its basement to provide more accessibility, programming and resources to area residents, patrons and visitors than is currently feasible given our small space and no means of access for disabled people. The full footprint, full height basement will double the size of the library, providing for a meeting room, a beautiful children's room, two ADA bathrooms, two private study cubicles, three computer workstations, a staff breakroom, storage, and a dedicated book sale shelf. A light-filled atrium will connect the two stairs with an elevator and stairs to each level. Project Timeline We have already approved the concept, conducted a feasibility study, and had two public hearings with townspeople. Since the building is owned by the town of Center Harbor, the request for renovation will have to go to town vote at Town Meeting in March, 2027, even though the monies raised will be by the Friends of Nichols Memorial Library. When do you anticipate project implementation to begin? 04/01/2027 Project Completion? 04/01/2030 Financial 3 Million Dollars What sources of funding do you propose? Private donations, grants. What amount of these funds do you anticipate will be CDFA resources? Unsure.
