The Gleeful Conspiracy

The Gleeful Conspiracy is a Connecticut-based band that digs deep into a trick bag full of superheated guitar soul to raise earworms the size of mobile homes. The band was created in 2020 by lockdown-confined newlyweds Thom and Whitney Guthrie as a vocal/keys and bass duo. It was a start, but it needed ... something. The drum machine on the keyboard started demanding top billing, too. They quickly recruited drummer Mike Keyes, a fixture on the local scene. Then Fate high-fived them when Thom and Whitney ran into Jeff Carpenter and his son at a local guitar shop. Jeff was just getting back into playing and making home recordings, but he was quickly persuaded to swerve into the glamorous rock and roll lifestyle the Guthries promised. After a string of amazingly well-received live performances, the band recorded their first EP, Manifestival, with Michael Arafeh, Middletown's Musical Ambassador, at the Coffeehouse Studio. It was released in Spring 2024, and a full-length follow-up is already in the works. The Conspiracy has one goal: they're here to glitterbomb your brain until you dance.
