From The Mount

Give the Eastern Hemlock trees at The Mount a lift! They need your help to travel to North Carolina for a leading role in reforestation efforts at the NC Forest Service. How do trees travel? Through their seeds! Join us for this family-friendly hemlock cone collection event. Little tiny hands are perfect for picking ripe cones off of tree branches. Our goal is to collect five pounds of cones with their seeds tucked safely inside and send them off to be planted to continue their legacy of creating unique forest ecosystems for hundreds of interdependent species to thrive across the East Coast. IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: Collect Little Cones is intended for audiences of all ages! Youth must be accompanied by a grown-up. This program meets at the Dell Stage and takes place outdoors, rain or shine. Please plan your apparel and footwear accordingly! In the event of extreme weather conditions, such as excessive heat or severe thunderstorms, Collect Little Cones will be canceled. Weather updates will be posted to this website. While The Mount is a dog-friendly property, dogs are not permitted in this program. Questions?
