Stories, voices, and a welcoming café atmosphere—Wharton on Wednesday returns for a five-month run! Join us at the Terrace Café on the first Wednesday of each month, June through October, as local actors bring quintessential Edith Wharton short stories to life. Arrive early to enjoy the spectacular view and refreshments from the Café, open at 4:30 pm. In September, Mae Hedges Boyce returns to read Angel at the Grave. Miss Paulina Anson has grown old preserving the house and memory of her grandfather, a oncefamous Transcendentalist, only to meet with bitter disappointment when public interest in him wanes. Until a young stranger appears on her doorstep offering hope and a new start. IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION: This one-hour reading takes place on The Mount’s Terrace under an open-air shade tent. Please be mindful of the weather and plan accordingly! The Terrace is located on the second floor of the Mansion. An elevator is available to assist those with mobility concerns. Please park in the Upper Parking Lot. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to allow time to enjoy the quarter-mile walk down the driveway to the Mansion. Golf carts run throughout the day if you require assistance to the event location. Accessible parking is available in spaces adjacent to the Mansion. The bar at the Terrace Café will be open 4:30 – 5:30 pm. In the event of extreme weather, such as excessive heat or severe thunderstorms, this program may be moved indoors to The Mount’s Stable Auditorium. All ticket holders will be notified by email at least two hours before the scheduled start time if a venue change is necessary. Those wishing to cancel their ticket orders will receive full refunds. To cancel, email: [email protected] Seating for all programs at The Mount is first-come, first-served. If you have seating preferences, we recommend arriving fifteen minutes early. Originally from the Boston area, Mae has lived and been acting in the Berkshires since 2001. She has performed on stage with Shakespeare & Company, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Barrington Stage Company, Berkshire Playwright’s Lab, and Mixed Company. When not on stage, she works as an energy therapist, guiding her clients with presence and prayer. Mae enjoys writing, especially poetry, and she is working on a theatre piece based on the life of the Christian mystic Julian of Norwich.
