Alchemy Ballet

Join us for the launch of a new ballet inspired by Avery, Gottlieb & Rothko: By the Sea, presented by Alchemy Ballet in partnership with The Phillips Collection. Drawing inspiration from the exhibition and its exploration of three artists, Alchemy Ballet’s choreographers and dancers respond to their work through movement, music, and poetry. The program brings together visual art and live performance, offering a new way to experience the artists and their relationships to the sea. Alchemy Ballet, the performing and educational arm of Northern Virginia nonprofit Artists in Motion, is dedicated to artistic excellence, innovation, and community engagement. Rooted in the Vaganova tradition with a 21st-century approach, Alchemy integrates dance with music, visual art, literature, and diverse cultural traditions. Through original choreography, interdisciplinary collaboration, rigorous training, and community engagement, Alchemy invites artists and audiences to experience classical ballet in new and groundbreaking ways.
