BOND CHAPEL 1050 E 59TH ST [map] Composer, guitarist, and writer Alan Licht is revered for his work in groups The Blue Humans and Text of Light and considered a key figure in his generation’s pantheon of experimental solo guitar players (see also Jim O’Rourke and Oren Ambarchi). Since the early 1990s he has developed a repertoire of structured improvisation pieces for solo electric guitar. These works bring together his interests in reharmonization (from jazz and classical music), process, repetition, and extended duration (from Minimalism), and the textural vocabularies of rock and noise music.
