Youth Program | Scouts Day: Journalism

Explore the role of journalism through a guided experience in the main exhibition John F. Kennedy and the Memory of a Nation and the special exhibition On Assignment: Dallas Times Herald 1963. Girl Scouts of the USA and Scouting America participants will learn about the role reporters, journalists and newspapers played in covering the Kennedy administration and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. By examining primary sources, scouts will learn how to compose their own news article at the Museum. Scouts will participate in a guided gallery visit and group activities led by Museum educators to meet Truth Seeker and Journalism badge requirements. The experience will include a take-home Scouts Field Guide with prompts and activities designed to strengthen critical thinking and media literacy skills.
