About this event
One of 41 upcoming events at The White Squirrel Bar, and 7,349 across the Twin Cities.
Sweet Pea is a whimsical Prog-Pop outfit based in Minneapolis. Formerly known as the rockin’ Jackie Kean, Sweet Pea now turns their attention to blending the inhuman landscape of synthesized sounds with a rhythm section that is as living and breathing as ever. Atmospheric indie soul meets rich, moody production, pairing soulful vocals with a full, layered live band. Lush keys, electric guitar, bass, and drums seamlessly balance serene moments with driving electronic beats, creating a modern sonic space to embrace every side of who you are. Baby Mahi and the Sitters are a “warehouse pop” group from Minneapolis, Minnesota. What started as the bedroom recording project of Saadman Maheer (Mahi), has since expanded into a full-size live (and sometimes studio) band that tends to have a rotating cast of homies called The Sitters. Some claim their songs to be somewhat unpredictable and flexible in a way that their influences can be hard to pinpoint, but somewhere between Kevin Barnes (of Montreal) and Pat the Bunny might be a good place to start. Mahi is a Bangladeshi national who moved to Minnesota for college and has kinda just stuck around because the weather is so nice… and of course, because of the music and romance.
