To demonstrate undying fealty to the party, Emma sacrificed her marriage to husband and best friend, Javier, who previously left a promising career in Republican politics to support her. Emma is threatened and confronted with three simultaneous, existential challenges: battling ruthless party chairman, Eddie Cobb, and internal forces over party power, fighting to save democratic values inflamed by the secession movement, and balancing love and betrayal driven by Javier’s divided loyalties.
