Desert Insect Illustration: a 4-part Series

@ Register Here $140 Non-Member / $112 Member Tuesdays, August 11, 18, 25 and September 1, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Each week, we will explore the form, textures, and colors of our invertebrate friends using graphite and watercolor to create engaging illustrations. We will draw and paint Sonoran Desert insects, from photos, videos, and from life (if you are lucky!) Recommended materials: multi-media paper or artist-grade watercolor paper graphite pencil, 2B and/or 6B eraser watercolor set, primary colors & burnt umber watercolor brushes, #8 or #10 round brush to start water cup paper towel or rag Optional materials: magnifying glass insect specimens insect photos (instructor will provide a basic class set) instructor Trenton Jung Trenton is a natural science illustrator based in Seattle, WA, formerly in Tucson, AZ. Born and raised outside of Los Angeles, CA, the sun and water play an influential role in his art practice. Trenton’s work reflects his deep interest in organic forms, and focuses on the unseen and unnoticed aspects of nature. He use a variety of mediums to represent my observations including watercolor, graphite, colored pencil, and gouache. His work has been featured at the American Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian magazine, at the Woodard Lab (University of Riverside, CA), in Anthropocene, and Nature (science journals). Refund & Cancellation Policy No refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. No refunds will be issued for special events. We reserve the right to cancel Community Classes due to insufficient registration, garden closure, or inclement weather, in which case, participants will receive a full refund. People with disabilities should make requests for accommodation as early as possible to allow time to make appropriate arrangements.
